PRESS RELEASE July 2009

BBC Good Food Shows launch an autumn packed with food Shows and a dramatic transformation for the BBC Good Food Show London

The BBC Good Food Shows are delighted to announce an exclusive partnership with one of Britain’s most popular TV food programmes MasterChef to launch MasterChef Live at the BBC Good Food Show London held at Olympia, 13-15 November.

MasterChef Live will feature key elements from the TV programme, giving visitors the unique opportunity to watch theatre sessions hosted by John Torode and Gregg Wallace; see past winners demo live, have-a-go in interactive workshops; taste winning dishes in the MasterChef Restaurant and much, much more.

The Show brings the TV programme to life via recreation of key, recognisable elements onto the Show floor. The Invention Test is where 30 visitors per session will have an unprecedented chance to see if they’ve got what it takes to be a MasterChef, with John Torode and Gregg Wallace tasting their way to decide a victor. The Cookery Experience sponsored by Sainsbury’s will play host to MasterChef Cook-Off sessions where the culinary might of previous contestants will be pitted against each other. MasterChef Hot Tips pods around the show will be hubs of advice on being a MasterChef in your own kitchen and the MasterChef Theatre is where visitors can see winners from the TV programmes recreating their signature dishes, and answering questions. The MasterChef MasterClass is an interactive workshop where visitors will learn skills from pasta to sushi making directly from masters of their field. The immensely popular Restaurant Experience will this year feature the MasterChef Restaurant run by winners turned professionals, including Thomasina Miers, so you can taste the food as well.

To top this all off, a recreation of MasterChef HQ gives visitors and the public the opportunity to find out more about taking part in the next series and even submit an application form.

The BBC Good Food Shows will then take MasterChef Live on the road as The MasterChef Experience, due to next to appear at the BBC Good Food Show Birmingham. The Invention Test, demos and appearances from John Torode and Gregg Wallace, a whole host of previous winners and skills workshops will take place.

The hugely popular theatres at all three Shows, sponsored by Sainsbury’s, will be showcasing an unrivalled selection of TV’s top chefs, guaranteed to educate and entertain the crowds. Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver, James Martin, the Hairy Bikers, Rick Stein, John Torode and Gregg Wallace are amongst this year’s glittering line-up.

MasterChef Live, the BBC Good Food Show Birmingham and the BBC Good Food Show Scotland will continue to showcase an unrivalled quality of exhibitors, partners and sponsors as ever before. Continued relationships with Slow Food UK, FoodLoversBritain.com Fairs, Vinopolis and CAMRA to name but a few, ensure visitors will have a full in-the-round experience of great food and fantastic drink.

“We’re exceptionally excited about our partnership with MasterChef and the opportunity this gives us to reach a whole new type of food lover with this dynamic and fresh content for the Show. MasterChef is a hugely popular TV programme and we’re delighted to be bringing this to life at one of our most established Shows” Comments Laura Biggs, Managing Director of BBC Haymarket
